East Ridge History
East Ridge Community Church began on March 31, 1991 as the fifth daughter church of Loudonville Community Church. Curt Morgan made the transition from Associate Pastor at LCC to Church Planting Pastor in September of 1990.
On the last business day after which we planned to delay the start of East Ridge for a lack of a meeting place, we signed an agreement with Emma Willard School administrators to use their Alumni Chapel. We used that chapel and surrounding offices for ten and a half years.
Around 1997 we began to make a transition from a Sunday morning service that was seeker-targeted and a midweek service (New Community) that was believer-targeted to a Sunday focus on believers yet intentionally sensitive to the presence of unchurched friends and visitors. We have maintained that vision since that time, because we always want to be a church where previously unchurched folks feel welcomed.
At Hudson Valley Community College’s Hy Rosenblum Administrative Center since August of 2001, East Ridge is now in the process of seeking an alternative location near the center of our service area along the Route 4 corridor in southern Rensselaer County.
God has blessed our church throughout its brief history and has been faithful through the challenges of ministry. We pray that for generations to come that Christ will go before us as we remain faithful to make the good news of Christ known in our neighborhoods and even to the ends of the earth.
